Good evening, or morning if you’re reading this first thing with your coffee. It’s nice to meet you. Of course I don’t know you specifically, but if you’ve taken a moment to read my nice essay about nice people making nice shows, then I know I already love you. How a simple idea for a television episode can yield childlike joy & laughter.
The Chris Gethard Show is madness, happiness, honesty, and offbeat humor all rolled up into one TV show. It’s had a long history going from UCB stages to Public Access TV to Fusion (and now on TruTV, in its 3rd Season). I am aware that TCGS is rather odd and may not be for everyone, but hands down, without a doubt, the best episode is S2E9 ‘One Man’s Trash.’
Directing is a stressful job (heck, I think these pictures can show you that) and whether there’s five movies in between the years or well over fifteen, it’s enjoyable to see how they’ve grown. The directors are in no particular order and while I wasn’t able to get everyone, I found a fair amount. Enjoy.
You can read rave reviews about Bo Burnham’s new special Make Happy all over the internet, so I won’t do the same here. I mean, I hope you watched it (you really should). What I do want to say is how lucky I feel to have gotten to grow up watching Bo, witnessing his maturity as I did the same.
